Martin Ronquillo

One day at a time. That’s how I live my life. I am fascinated by how ephemeral our lives are. Because of this fascination, I’m driven to find the most effective way(s) to help people – myself included, build lifestyles that maximize happiness and fulfillment.

My current work

I am co-founder of Papaya, where my mission is to make nutrition education accessible and applicable. Why nutrition? I spent nearly a decade trying to control my weight. Even though it took so long, in the process, I learned that I am capable of accomplishing big things (like losing a ton of weight and eating healthier). I also improved my health significantly.

One of my most vivid memories of early adulthood is from when I was 19 and 20 and I had trouble getting out of bed in the mornings because I had excruciating back pain. Just the act of getting up was a major act of willpower.

Nobody deserves to live like this. For too long (most of my life) I thought I was doomed to live a life where pain was a daily given. Thankfully, over the years, experiences and people have helped me get my act together. I am now healthier than ever and even though I still have lots to work on, I know that I will see progress if I stick with it – one day at a time.

Now, I want to help people, who like me, know what it’s like to feel incapable of “getting healthy.”

My side project

I’m a process geek and I love learning new skills. I’m currently building up my photography skills. I’m using photography to understand how the act of learning a new skill can completely transform a person’s life.
